Report From A Trip After It Happened.
I'm home, I'm home, I'm home! I had to leave my dear ol' Beantown for a week of business travel in Pittsburgh and Portland (Oregon) and got back last Wednesday evening. I got a lot accomplished and it was good that I (and two others from work) went, but I do HATE to travel for business. I miss Curt and my home too much.
Luckily, I did have most of Saturday afternoon and Sunday off in Portland. I got to visit the top of Mount Hood and do some other touristy stuff. The Oregon countryside is very pretty, and the locals do like their beer - both positive attributes in my book. Portland, on the other hand, didn't impress me too much. As far as urban playland goes, I think I prefer Pittsburgh.
Leaving for a week didn't help me to catch up on my work, though. I had over two hundred e-mails to dig through when I returned on Thursday, and when I left on Friday night about 50 of them still sat unopened. However, after two weeks of non-stop work-related activities, I was just DONE with it all, so yesterday off we went with friends for some poolside fun at the Randolph Country Club. The air was very hot and still, and the sun was brutal. We all ended up burning a little, despite using lotion.
I was contemplating going into work later this afternoon although I dread the thought and will probably skip it (which I'll regret as soon as I walk in the door tomorrow). We considered taking the high-speed ferry to Provincetown this afternoon, but I think we both just want to play it by ear and stay mellow today. I need to recharge my batteries, but I'm already looking forward to the next big event on my calendar!
